Dr. Billie Rush DVM, Owner

Dr. Billie Rush has been passionate about animals for as long as she can remember. Spending time on her family’s farm in Oklahoma, she spent countless hours caring for animals, fostering a lifelong connection with them. Her journey into veterinary medicine began at just 16, working in veterinary hospitals as a kennel technician, receptionist, and veterinary assistant—a foundation that gave her a comprehensive understanding of the field.

Dr. Rush followed her dreams by pursuing a degree in zoology and later earned her doctorate of veterinary medicine from Oklahoma State University in 2001. She began her veterinary career in Oklahoma, later relocating to Austin before following her heart—and her family—back to the Clear Lake area. In 2012, she fulfilled her goal of owning a practice by purchasing Brown Animal Clinic from Dr. Brown, renaming it Advanced Pet Care to reflect her vision for compassionate, cutting-edge care.

Dr. Rush’s professional interests include soft tissue surgeries, dentistry, and managing complex internal medicine cases. As a dedicated lifelong learner, she is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Feline Veterinary Medical Association, and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Rush loves spending time with her husband, Brian, and their two children, who share her passion for animals. Their family also includes Wally, a lovable boxer mix adopted from the Great Dane Rescue of Southeast Texas; Teddy, a terrier mix rescued from 2nd Chance Vets; and Peter, an African sulcata tortoise. When she’s not caring for pets, Dr. Rush enjoys resistance training, traveling, gardening, and diving into a good book.
